David Jonathan

Leading soloist



David graduated from the Queensland Dance School in Australia, while performing with the Queensland Ballet company. After he moved to Melbourne where he attended the Australian Ballet School. In 2007 David joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp, where in 2013 he was promoted to Soloist and played lead role as Solor in Cynthia Harvey’s La Bayadere, Lensky in John Cranko’s Onegin, Prince Desiré in Marcia Haydee’s The Sleeping Beauty, Espada in Alexei Fedeyechev Don Quixote in Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky pas de deux, Serenade and Who Cares?.


David is honored to have been personally coached in celebrated works by Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe, Cynthia Harvey, Marcia Haydée and Patricia Neary. His repertoire also includes roles in contemporary and neo classical works by Ricardo Amarante, Wayne McGregor, Glen Tetley, Christian Spuck, Ashley Page, Nicolo Fonte, Cayetano Soto, Jorma Elo, Edward Clug Michael Corder, Mauro de Candia, and Mateo Moles. In addition he has danced at international galas on European and American stages.


David started work in Astana Ballet Theatre from September 2016.
