The Belgian choreographer and Director of the one-act ballet “Gaia” Ricardo Amarante, this theatrical season took the office as an Advisor to the Artistic Director of “Astana Ballet” Theatre!
Ricardo has worked in such prestigious theatres as Paris Opera, The Young ballet of France, the Royal ballet of Flanders, he performed lead roles not only in the classical repertoire: “Giselle”, “The Nutcracker”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “The Sleeping Beauty”, “The Swan Lake”, but also in ballets by Christopher D'amboise, William Forsythe, Hans van Manen and Jiri Kylian.
In recent years Ricardo Amarante often acted as a choreographer, he has collaborated with ballet companies of the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, Palucca High School in Dresden, New York City Ballet, etc. He has created several significant works for the Royal Ballet of Flanders, including “A Fuego Lento”, “Aquarela”, “Sonho Angelical”, “Train of Thoughts”, “Lune’ air”, “Love Fear Loss”, “Rondo Capriccioso” and “A Soulful Touch”. His productions have been presented on the leading stages of Europe, Asia and America. Ballet critics note the special choreographic language in ballets by Ricardo Amarante. The style of his works has sensuality and playfulness, and yet they achieve a very high emotional peaks.
