“Astana Ballet” tour to Almaty

The Theater “Astana Ballet” will have a tour on May 4, 5 and 6 at the Kazakh State Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay in Almaty. These days the capital team will show the best performances of its repertoire, which includes national productions, world-famous neoclassical ballets and contemporary author’s works.


Program of the tour by days:


May 4 – a masterpiece of the 20th century, one-act ballet “Serenade” in the choreography of George Balanchine to the music of P.I. Tchaikovsky in the first section.

After the intermission – a performance on the national theme “Zhusan” by Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukaram Avakhri.


May 5 – a ballet that revolutionized the dance world in 30 minutes, “In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated” (choreography by William Forsythe).

In the second section there will be a new controversy performance of “Salome” of the national choreographer Mukaram Avakhri to the music of Fazil Say.


May 6 – “Love Fear Loss” – a hymn of love for the music from the repertoire of Edith Piaf, as well as the brightest versatile numbers in the program “Astana Ballet Gala”.

After the intermission, one-act neoclassical ballet “A fuego lento” will be shown with elements of the Brazilian samba in the choreography of Ricardo Amarante (Brazil).
