The first gala concert of Astana Ballet Theatre was held in Japan. The full house reigned in two-thousand seats hall. A new performance of choreographer Ricardo Amarante ‘A fuego lento’ was premiered in Tokyo. The touring program also includes one act ballets ‘Gaia’ and ‘Alem’. Japanese audience was impressed by an unusual combination of different genres, such as classical, modern and Kazakh folk dances, as well as skillfully chosen lighting and music.
Yasuo FUKUDA, FORMER PRIME MINISTER OF JAPAN:
This is the first time when I discover the Kazakh ballet for myself. I know that this is the first performance here, but I thought otherwise due to the high level of training. I liked the use of video graphics and lights. It was just a marvelous evening. It seems that Kazakhstan is located close to us. Kazakh creative teams do not often perform such musical shows in Japan. And from this point of view, today’s event has great importance for the development of relations between our countries. Although, this was the first performance of Astana Ballet Theatre in Japan, the number of visitors was impressive. The organizers received almost 20,000 applications, but after studying the profiles of potential viewers only 4,000 of them were able to attend to the Gala concert given by the Astana troupe.
Natsuo YAMAGUCHI, MEMBER OF JAPAN’S HOUSE OF COUNCILLORS:
I’m glad that I was able to see firsthand the modern ballet of Kazakhstan. They gave an excellent performance, dynamic and beautiful. Today’s program combines elements of both European and national culture in combination with the new ballet style and the use of modern technologies. These are the cultural achievements of Kazakhstan during the years of Independence.
Valery KUZEMBAYEV, DIRECTOR , ASTANA BALLET THEATRE:
This is the success of our country, the success of our President’s policy that our country is cognizable. That’s why people are interested in our arts. I think, this is due to the increasing interest to our country and, we try to maintain it. The next performance of Astana Ballet Theatre artists to the Japanese audience will take place in Shinjuku Bunka Senta, which will undoubtedly be another fascinating performance.
